About Edupark UK
What is Edupark UK and what do you do?
Edupark UK is Nepal’s specialist education consultancy based in Bagbazar, Kathmandu, dedicated exclusively to helping Nepali students’ study in the United Kingdom. We guide students through every step — from choosing the right university and course to securing admission, applying for scholarships, and processing the UK Student Visa. Whether you’re aiming for a Foundation, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree at a top UK university, our experienced team is here to support you from first consultation right through to your arrival in the UK.
Is the initial consultation free?
No. We offer free, personalized counselling sessions to all students. In your consultation, our advisors will assess your academic background, English language proficiency, budget, and career goals to recommend the most suitable UK universities and programs for you. There is no obligation and no charge for this session — we believe every student deserves quality guidance before making one of the most important decisions of their life.
What programs and levels can you help me with?
We assist students applying for Foundation (pre-degree pathway), Undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree), and Postgraduate (Master’s degree and MBA) programs. We also help students planning to continue from a Bachelor’s to a Master’s in the UK, and we can advise on post-study options including the Graduate Route visa.
Which areas of Kathmandu are you based in and can I visit in person?
Our office is located at the 4th Building, 1st Floor, Beside Aaradhana Complex, Bagbazar, Kathmandu — a central and easily accessible location. We warmly welcome walk-in visits. You can also call us on +977-1-5346693 / +977-1-5346694 or reach us on WhatsApp at +977-9803510563 to book a time that suits you.
Eligibility & Academic Requirements
What academic qualifications do I need to study in the UK?
Requirements vary depending on the level and university, but as a general guide: for Foundation programs, you typically need to have completed Class 11 or 12 (+2/A-Level equivalent) with a minimum of 45–50% marks. For Bachelor’s degrees, you need to have completed +2 (or equivalent) with at least 55–60%. For Master’s degrees, you need a Bachelor’s degree, ideally with a second class or above. Some universities are more flexible than others, so if your grades are below these thresholds, it is still worth speaking to us — we may be able to find a suitable pathway.
What English language score is required to study in the UK?
Most UK universities require an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 (no individual band below 5.5) for undergraduate entry, and IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) for postgraduate entry. PTE Academic scores of 51–58 (undergraduate) and 59–65 (postgraduate) are also commonly accepted. Many of our partner universities also accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter if your previous degree was taught entirely in English, which can waive the IELTS or PTE requirement entirely. Do check with us before booking your English test.
Can I apply if I have a gap in my studies or career?
Yes. UK universities are generally open to students with study or career gaps, provided you can explain them clearly. For Bachelor’s programs, gaps of two to five years are usually accepted. For Master’s programs, gaps of up to ten years or more are common, especially if you have relevant work experience to show for that time. Your Statement of Purpose (SOP) is the key document where you explain your gap — and our team will help you write a compelling, honest, and well-structured SOP that addresses this positively.
What intakes does the UK offer and when should I apply?
UK universities offer three main intakes: September (the primary and most popular intake), January (a secondary intake offered by many universities), and May (offered by a smaller number of universities). For the September intake, we recommend starting the process at least six to eight months in advance — ideally by January or February of the same year. For January intake, begin the process around July or August. Starting early gives you the best choice of universities, programs, and scholarship opportunities.
Tuition Fees, Scholarships & Financial Planning
How much does it cost to study in the UK for Nepali students?
Tuition fees at UK universities typically range from £10,000 to £18,000 per year for international undergraduate students, and £12,000 to £20,000 per year for postgraduate students. Living costs vary significantly by location — London is considerably more expensive than cities in the north of England, Wales, or Scotland. As a rough guide, students should budget £12,000 to £18,000 per year for living costs depending on lifestyle and location. Our advisors can give you a detailed, accurate cost breakdown for your specific choices.
Are there scholarships available for Nepali students studying in the UK?
Yes, there are several scholarship and bursary opportunities available to Nepali students. Many of our partner universities offer international merit scholarships ranging from £1,000 to £4,000 off the tuition fee. The prestigious Chevening Scholarship, funded by the UK Government, is also open to Nepali applicants for fully-funded Master’s study. Additionally, the Commonwealth Scholarship and a range of university-specific bursaries are available. We keep our students updated on all current scholarship rounds and help with applications — so please ask us about what’s available when you come in for your free consultation.
How much money do I need to show in my bank account for the UK Student Visa?
For the UK Student Visa, you must show that you have enough funds to cover your first year’s unpaid tuition fees plus nine months of living costs. As of 2026, the official monthly living cost figures set by the UK Home Office are £1,529 per month for students studying in London, and £1,171 per month for students studying outside London. These funds must be held in a bank account for at least 28 consecutive days before you submit your visa application, and the 28-day period must end within 31 days of your visa submission date. Only ‘A’ Class commercial banks in Nepal (such as Nabil Bank, Standard Chartered, Nepal SBI, etc.) are accepted — cooperative or finance companies are not.
What other costs are involved in the visa application process?
Beyond your bank balance, you will need to budget for the following visa-related costs: the UK Student Visa fee of approximately £490 (around NPR 84,000–86,000); the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) which grants you access to the NHS and currently costs around £776 per year of your course; and the TB (Tuberculosis) test conducted at IOM Nepal, which costs approximately NPR 8,500–11,000. Our team will walk you through all of these costs in detail and help you plan accordingly.
UK Student Visa
What is the process for applying for a UK Student Visa from Nepal?
Once you have received and accepted your university offer and paid the required deposit, your university will issue you a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) number. You can apply for your Student Visa up to six months before your course start date. The application is made online via the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) portal. Along with your completed application, you will need to submit your CAS details, academic documents, English language results, financial evidence, TB clearance from IOM Nepal, and a No Objection Letter (NOC) from the Ministry of Education, Nepal. Our team assists with every step of this process.
How long does UK Student Visa processing take for Nepali students?
Standard processing typically takes around three weeks from the date of your biometrics appointment at VFS Global. However, during the peak application period between June and August, processing times can extend to five or six weeks. We strongly recommend not waiting until the last minute — apply as soon as your CAS is issued. We also advise students not to book non-refundable flights until the visa has been approved.
What documents are required for the UK Student Visa?
The standard document checklist for a UK Student Visa from Nepal includes: a valid passport (valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay), your CAS letter from the university, all academic transcripts and character certificates from SLC/SEE through to your most recent qualification, English language test results (IELTS/PTE or MOI letter), TB Clearance Certificate from IOM Nepal, No Objection Letter (NOC) from the Ministry of Education Nepal, bank statements meeting the 28-day rule, and a Relationship Certificate if you are using your parents’ funds. Additional documents may be required depending on your personal circumstances.
Will I need a TB test to apply for a UK Student Visa?
Yes. All Nepali nationals applying for a UK visa of more than six months must obtain a Tuberculosis (TB) clearance certificate from an approved clinic. In Nepal, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kathmandu is the approved testing center. The test costs approximately NPR 8,500–11,000 and the result is usually available within a few days. This certificate must be included with your visa application.
Working in the UK & Post-Study Options
Can I work part-time while studying in the UK?
Yes. On a UK Student Visa, you are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time (up to 40 hours per week) during official university holidays. The UK National Living Wage in 2026 is approximately £12.21–£12.71 per hour, so part-time work can meaningfully help with living costs. Do note that you cannot be self-employed or work as a professional sportsperson on a Student Visa.
What happens after I finish my degree in the UK?
After successfully completing your degree in the UK, you can apply for the Graduate Route visa (commonly called the post-study work visa). This allows you to stay in the UK and work — or look for work — for two years after graduation (three years if you have completed a PhD). You can work in any role, at any skill level, without needing a job offer or sponsor. Many of our students use this period to gain valuable international work experience and then transition to a Skilled Worker Visa if they secure a qualifying job offer from a UK employer.
Application Process & Timeline
What is the step-by-step process to study in the UK from Nepal with Edupark UK?
The journey typically follows these stages: first, come in for a free counselling session where we assess your profile and shortlist suitable universities and programs. We then help you prepare your application documents including your SOP, reference letters, and academic certificates. Once your application is submitted, we liaise with the universities and keep you informed of any decisions. When you receive an offer, we guide you through accepting it, paying the deposit, and applying for your CAS. We then support you through the entire visa application process, including document preparation, financial planning, and the IOM TB test. Finally, we conduct a pre-departure briefing to prepare you for life in the UK, and we assist with airport pickup coordination on arrival.
How long does the entire process take from start to visa approval?
From your initial consultation to receiving your visa, the full process typically takes four to six months. This includes time for preparing documents, submitting the university application, receiving an offer, paying the deposit, obtaining your CAS, preparing your financial documents, and waiting for visa processing. This is why we always recommend starting early — especially for the September intake, where we advise beginning the process no later than February or March of the same year.
